President Goodluck Jonathan Plans to Handover To The Military

Professor Wole Soyinka has been involved in Nigeria politics for more than 50 years. He had witnessed different political era in Nigeria and he has sound acumen to interpret every political move in the country.

Pofessor Wole Soyinka during an interview with DW expressed concern that the game of June 12, 1993 might still come to play. He is of opinion that the military could take over the leadership of the country after the presidential elections on March 28. He stated that "Ex military officers and security officers are trying to push aside the political contestants and use the unrest as an excuse to establish an interim government. The nature of the interim government wants to pretend it's not really a military intervention. A few political leaders, well-known civilians, want to give the veneer of civilian structure, but basically it’s a kind of political intervention."

According to the Noble Laureate, Nigeria is aspiring very hard to become a failed state "It will take a generation at least to exterminate this phenomenon altogether. The military would not have had to cope with Boko Haram on this level if the proper action had been taken at the right time. This is the biggest the problem I have with the Jonathan government."

He further decried the increasing state of aggression exhibited during election campaign in Nigeria. He further stated particularly that the carefree speech of the wife of the Nigeria President, Mrs Patience Jonathan should be curbed. "What she said was totally unacceptable. I no longer regard her as the First Lady of Nigeria," he said.

APC,General Buhari To Send Petitiion to ICC over President Jonathan Terror Move

General Muhammadu Buhari's Presidential Campaign Organization has stated that he will submit a petition against President Jonathan to the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague.

This statement was published on Wednesday and signed by Mallam Garba Shehu, the Director of Media and Publicity.

According to the statement, president Jonathan had unleashed terror on Lagos residents by discreetly mobilizing the Oodua People's Congress (OPC.)

It will be remembered that the ethnic militia group of the OPC had organized a protest in Lagos against Attahiru Jega of the INEC, alleging poor handling of the commission.

APC is saying that the gun-toting and machete-wielding OPC went about harassing and intimidating motorists and singing anti-Jega songs in a script it says was written by Jonathan.

"There was such disruption to the tranquility of the city that warranted the citizens scampering for safety in all directions, a foretaste of the violence they plan to unleash on Election Day.

"Our investigations have confirmed that Monday's (16th March, 2015) show was a dress-rehearsal for the main disruption planned for the general elections. Lagos, and the entire South West, being a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been marked for massive dishevelling commotion that would involve killings, maiming and kidnapping.

"Our findings have further shown that the recent Nine Billion naira (N9 billion) Pipeline surveillance contract to OPC and some militant groups in Southern Nigeria was the elixir for the latest crude impudence of the pro-Jonathan armed groups. Indeed, the contract award was indeed a subterfuge for the mobilization of these murderous militant groups for the destruction of lives and property to force the desire of the re-election of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan on the Nigerian people.”

WHEN THE MASTER BECOMES THE SLAVE

I was bubbling with life and strength. I was anticipating the flame of euphoria that would cover the atmosphere in church on the Sunday Morning. At least, the religious place provides succour to Nigerians. It has become a place where the average Nigerian would relinquish his state of unhappiness at least for a moment.

I got to church and the usher directed me to my usual place of “abode”. In the same place, there is a man who usually sit beside me. I was wondering if he had chosen another “abode” or perhaps he was not in church. Not quite long, he arrived with a long face.
